Chasen - Bamboo Matcha Whisk - Camellia Sinensis

A traditional and essential instrument in the preparation of matcha, the chasen is a piece carved from a single piece of bamboo, for whipping green tea powder in a small amount of water.

With a quick back-and-forth movement, the beaten tea takes the form of a fine emulsion as found in the Japanese tea ceremony: the chanoyu.
